Set in the foothills of Northeast India, the story explores the lives of women as they navigate the aftermath of prolonged armed conflict. Preeti, a doctoral student, arrives in the village to conduct fieldwork. Her idealistic notions about rural life are shattered as she witnesses the impact of militarization and patriarchy on the everyday lives of these women. Mainao's husband, a rebel, was killed by security personnel. Gaodaang's husband is serving in the Indian army posted along the country's border. Formerly inseparable friends, they now confront the harsh realities left behind by their husbands' legacies. Meanwhile, middle-aged Malothi endures the trauma of a brutal gang rape perpetrated by an armed patrol, only to face abandonment by her husband, who brands her as "unclean". Yet, amidst despair, winds of change are about to blow.
