Synopsis

October 1968. During the Brazilian dictatorship, students and professors of the Left Student Movement faced attacks by the Communist Hunting Command coming from across the street on a pivotal night known as The Battle of the Students. 21 long-takes depict 24 hours alive with the passion of the youth of the 1960s, in defense of an ideal, on the verge of the military invasion of the Philosophy School building.

Director's Biography

VERA EGITO

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1982. She graduated from São Paulo University Film School (ECA-USP) and also studied screenwriting at EICTV. She directed the short films SPREAD THROUGH THE AIR and BOUND, both shown at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Critics Week special session. In 2016, she released her first feature film as a screenwriter and director, RESTLESS LOVE, and in 2020, she launched the series HE, SHE, THEY by HBO Originals, a project where she was the creator, screenwriter, and director. THE BATTLE (2023) is her latest film.
